India Now: Tourism Festival opens in London |

The three-month long ‘India Now’ festival, aimed at promoting India as an important tourist destination for the UK, opened in London on July 17, 2007. Organized by India’s Tourism Ministry in conjunction with the office of the Mayor of London, over 150 cultural organisations from London will participate in activities such as a three-week, India-themed festival opening in Trafalgar Square on August 2 and the Regent Street festival on September 2. Look out for colourful posters on billboards, buses and taxes, part of the media campaign with the byline "India is closer than you think" running at the same time - and a series of UK roadshows during August organised jointly with the India Assocation of Tour Operators.
