For the first time next summer, Atlantic Holidays is operating a direct charter flight from Gatwick to the island of Porto Santo, part of the Madeira archipelago. The unspoilt island is a favourite with Portuguese holidaymakers and has a 9km sandy beach.

The weekly service will operate between May 5 and October 27 2008.

The Madeira and Azores specialist is offering packages from £499 per person including bed and breakfast accommodation, flights, transfers and taxes.
