Low-cost carrier Germanwings is to add Manchester to its UK network when it launches flights, using A319 aircraft, to its base at Cologne Bonn airport in October 2009. The route is aimed mainly at the business traveller and will operate five times weekly, leaving Manchester at 10:10 on Mondays and Tuesdays (arriving in Cologne at 12:45), at 20:40 on Thursdays and Fridays (arriving at 23:15) and at 15:55 on Sundays (arriving at 18:30). Flights from Germany leave on Mondays and Tuesdays at 09:00, 19:35 on Thursdays and Fridays and at 14:50 on Sundays. Flights are on sale now with one-way fares from £13.99 one-way including taxes and charges. Germanwings already flies from Stansted year-round and operates summer season routes from Edinburgh and Dublin.
