Germanwings: Launches Smart Connect |

Low-cost airline Germanwings has launched a simpler and cheaper booking service, Smart Connect, whereby passengers can book one ticket for a journey which involves flying more than one sector. Passengers are required to check in for both the first and second flights, but the transfers are made easy with preferential treatment at check-in desks located within just a few metres walk of the baggage reclaim area for the connecting flight. Smart Connect will operate on selected routes via three of Germanwings’ hubs – Cologne/Bonn, Stuttgart and Berlin-Schönfeld. The chosen routes are those where passengers have at least 90 minutes between connections. As an example, it will now be possible to buy a less expensive through ticket from Stansted to Split or from Edinburgh to Dresden. Info/bookings at www.germanwings.com
